What Irish law requires
In Ireland the rules are set by the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 and, specifically for handling, by Chapter 4 of Part 2 of the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007. Together they place a clear duty on employers to protect workers from handling injuries, enforced by the Health and Safety Authority (HSA).
